A Step by Step guide on the process of an exchange
STEP 1: THE RIGHT PEOPLE!
STUDENTS
Students that are motivated, curious, and have a passion for adventure make the best exchange students
FAMILIES
Families who are invested in the program and want to share their life and experiences with an exchange student become excellent EFI families
SCHOOLS
Schools that welcome international students and embrace learning and expanded educational opportunities are a perfect fit for EFI exchanges.
STEP 2: THE PROCESS
APPLICATIONS/INTERVIEW
All students participate in a formal application process providing information about themselves, their families, educational experience, and personal activities. Getting to know our applicants is a vital step in this process.
BACKGROUND CHECKS
Background checks, references, and personal recommendations are required to ensure that all applicants are a good fit for our organization and can provide a safe and nurturing home.
FAMILY MEETING
Family Meetings allow you to get to know our programs and our directors. It is a great way to understand what is expected from participants and ask questions of experienced
families.
STEP 3: THE PREPERATION
MATCHING
EFI reviews all applications and matches families from two different countries with shared interests, values, and goals.
TRAINING
Students and families must complete all of the mandatory training and webinars to ensure everyone is prepared and ready for their global adventure.
DOCUMENTION
EFI assists with all travel documentation, school registration, and/or student visas, making sure they are in compliance with country specific regulations.
STEP 4: THE EXPERIENCE
TRAVEL ABROAD
Students are asked to expand their horizons and adapt to their new surroundings. Being open to new experiences and cultures is a skill and the key to a successful student exchange!
HOSTING
Hosting provides an opportunity for everyone to be involved in the exchange experience. From teachers and students to host families and communities, hosting is a way of sharing your country and culture while making great memories.
SUPPORT
EFI families are given unlimited support throughout the entire process. Each family is assigned a personal Director who will check in with the child and host family for the duration of the exchange.
